Day 5 of the Hate Flyer by Minarik - the D&C responses again - this time with feeling
Leave it to Tom Tobin to supply the D&C editorial board’s strongest opinion yet about Minarik’s Hate Mailer. Well - that is a start. The D&C is now responding with strength - 5 days after the mailer.
This one doesn’t have the platitude and waffle of the Sunday D&C Editorial piece on the same subject. I dissected that editorial in great detail. In fact I would recommend reading my post again before you read Tobin’s take.
Seems they have come to some of the same conclusions I posted about. Which is good that they are coming to their senses.

The Famous Flyer
Um, it is infamous not famous.
.. even if they agree with its implied substance
What is implied substance? What EXACTLY does that mean? That Arab looking men are terrorists and all that? The message was categorically wrong using racial stereotypes to perpetuate it.
But it is a start.
Oh - James Lawrence wrote a piece about the Fair practices board ruling against the Hate Mailer. His comments though are tried and true to the points in his editorial post (it is the Fair practices board and the voter - not the candidates and party). He could stand to learn a little feeling from Mr Tobin.
I remain unimpressed. They had to wait five days to criticize the mailing on a blog, using limited criteria. Again, they don’t mention that the piece is a farce in its entirety. They pretty much limit their criticism to the racial stereotyping aspect of the piece. I don’t discount the importance of this issue at all, but the piece as a whole is a sham.
Not to mention that they seem to need the Fair Campaign Practices Committee to tell them the difference between right and wrong. I certainly didn’t need any committee to inform me of what was resonating in my gut instinct. I guess they have no internal moral compass, except when it comes to gangsta rap.
All of this, not to mention the lack of a mea culpa for endorsing these low lifes.
