Local Progressive Candidates Embrace Technology

It’s really struck me how some of the local progressive candidates have really embraced technology, and the newfangled internets and stuff. One of the things it’s been nice to see is online videos of some of the candidates. For example, Carmen Gumina running up in Webster for the County Leg, has a whole series of very short clips on different topics around the campaign. It’s a neat way to get to know a little more about a candidate.

Ted Nixon, running in Pittsford/E. Rochester for the County Leg, has had a series of on-line videos called “The Nixon Minute“. They’re quite good– check out his most recent one, on the GOP’s freaky race-baiting mailers.

He really cuts to the chase here. Well done. And I like that he reminds the viewer what these mailers are really about– the GOP wants to change the subject from their behavior and “results” to something else, even if it’s craziness.  This is the kind of quick response that the internet and YouTube was made for.

I consider these fresh approaches to campaigning indicative of the fresh approaches they’ll bring to the County Leg.

I also noticed in the D&C that Greece government is looking to redesign it’s website … do you think they saw they are catching on? Have you seen the greecedemocrats.com site?

Nixon now reports going door-to-door and hearing from people in his district who have gotten four or more robocalls in the last 3 days saying that Democrats will let TERRORISTS into the neighborhood. Some people aren’t quite sharp enough, through no fault of their own necessarily, to realize they’re being jerked around and lied to. Ted announced a week or so ago, in his video #9, that he was against Spitzer’s plan, for some fairly reasonable and practical reasons. Seems like the truth doesn’t make a damned bit of difference anymore.
