Local press picks up on Minarik’s racist mailers
WHAM-13 and the D&C have both picked up on the story of Minarik’s racist mailers. The D&C piece (by the always excellent Jim Goodman) is very good:
Minarik would not say how much the Republican committee was spending on the mailing, or where it was being sent. However, with Brooks lacking a Democratic opponent, attention has focused on legislative races and Brooks’ re-election campaign has transferred $728,046 to the Republican committee.
The Republican committee is also calling voters with prerecorded messages — robo-calls — that include Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn and County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo urging voters to support Republicans for the County Legislature.
(snip)
Fairport resident Priscilla Petersen, an enrolled Democrat, said that she’s tired of getting the recorded calls.
She said that the Dinolfo message she received was “shockingly racist,” while O’Flynn’s message was “scapegoating an entire political party.”
“Fear-mongering has caused great harm to our nation in recent years and it further damages our local community,” she said.

This xenophobia is similar to a movie called “A day without a Mexican,” a fictional look at what California would look like without an entire group. The description is below.

OK, so they reported it factually, good for them. But where’s the editorial opposing it? Maybe in Sunday’s paper?
At this point, I think its pretty clear that Maggie’s facade during her first two years in office was a total farce. Look, every elected Republican is in on this garbage. I hope the D&C has moved past its confusion about what is going on with Maggie and crew, and decides to take a strong stand in its Editorial section against all of this ridiculous behavior . Enough is enough. How much freakin’ evidence do editors need to publish a decisive opinion?
The O’Flynn message says, “County Legislature Democrats are putting our community at risk by allowing potential terrorists to get driver’s licenses.”
Dinolfo’s message says, “County Legislature Democrats want to give illegal immigrants amnesty by providing them a driver’s license that looks exactly like yours and mine!”
I have zero respect for either of these individuals now. It is extremely disturbing to me that this is how I feel about a top law enforcement official. I’ve put him down as nothing more than a political ditto head now. Its scary when law enforcement officials are willing spew lies to appease a master manipulator like Steve Minarik.
Folks (voters and the media), wake up, this is serious! These people are standing in the way of potential progress we are capable of making as a community in the near future. Their behavior is extremely detrimental to the health of our region.
