D&C picks up on mailer story
A couple hours after we chided them for not covering Minarik’s crazy mailer, the D&C (specifically Joe Spector) wrote a piece about it on the D&C political blog. This quote from Minarik cracks me up:
Minarik said the issue “has some weight. It’s like a saga, every day something new comes out.”

Um, Sorry exile the D&C lack of coverage clock is still ticking.
Unless I miss my guess - Spector doesn’t work for the D&C - he escaped and works for the Ganett News organization. - so that he posted on the D&C Blog is like saying he posted it in the storychat. When a D&C reporter or the Op-ed page (Lawrence or Tobin) makes mention then the clock stops.
I’m guessing the clock doesn’t stop.
The clock doesn’t stop as far as I’m concerned until it’s published in the dead-tree version of the paper. But I have very high standards of personal accountability…
I agree with the above. I also agree with Minarik. The issue apparently does have some weight.
I just walked into the kitchen/cooler room where I work, and they have a poster up on the wall with yesterday’s lit. piece calling on everyone to contact their Republican representatives to denounce this campaign of misinformation.
Wow! I’ve never seen anything like this posted before. I guess my employer is totally disgusted to the point they are willing to bring politics into the workplace.
people should be disgusted. forget your opinion of the licenses being issued in the first place, this is way beyong that. this is about worse than dirty politics. i mean, why doesn’t minarik just start burning crosses on lawns or round up a lynch mob?
Since the D&C management is too busy to comment, I’ve hired a certified medium (at great expense, mind you) to channel their inner thoughts. Here goes:
Listen, you insignificant blogger proles. Justifying the inner workings of the Rochester newspaper of record is as futile as explaining linear algebra to a labrador retriever. Nevertheless, plebes, listen well. I’ll try to put this in language even you can understand.
For professional journalists like us, running a blog is slumming of the first order. When in the slums, standards necessarily decline. So, when we stoop to publish a blog titled “from the Rochester Perspective”, you slum-dwellers should be happy that we expend the (not inconsiderable) effort to post to the distasteful thing. Don’t you dare question why items in the blog are written by wire service reporters in Albany and contain quotes from Dutchess county politicians.
To use a distasteful plebian expression, a blog is similar to sloppy seconds. You should be happy that you’re getting any, rather than complaining about the mess.
Kudos to RT and its participants for doing the best reporting in the area on these issues.
Channel 13 news reported on this at 6:00 as well.
