Day 1 of D&C silence about Minarik’s offensive mailers

No Democrat and Chronicle coverage of Minarik’s offensive mailers. Now, it may take reporters a day or two to put together a story on it, so I’m not blaming the news division. But what about the ed board?  Surely, they could take a break from writing down gangsta rap lyrics and telling knee-slappers about funny coffee stains they saw at Tim Horton’s long enough to comment on this in one of their many, many blogs, couldn’t they?

Their hearts are in the right place on this issue — they oppose immigrant-bashing.  Why no comment on this?

wease is commenting on the mailers during the next segment; 9:05 now so I guess in the next few minutes after the commercials…(they usually have mp3 audio up on this site later in the day, too.)

should be interesting. at the very least loud. no doubt he is pissed, this could be an epic rant even by wease’s standards

Ahem. I’m afraid your colossal ignorance of the news-gathering process is showing. Since you aren’t a professional journalist, and the certified, award-winning professionals at the D&C are obviously busy on more important matters, let me explain it to you.

This has only been covered on local, regional and national blogs. Since blogs can never generate or report news, the D&C cannot acknowledge the existence of the mailers until their news division, which is the sole source of facts, produces a story on this matter.

Perhaps after the election is over, a short item will appear in the local newspaper of record to document this minor matter. That item will ignore the fact that your plebian little blog broke the story because, as noted earlier, you are not professionals and, therefore, cannot receive attribution.

Until then, you may continue your crude effort to arouse the rabble who read your blog. The D&C will not lower itself to respond or acknowledge your effort.

Does Channel 10 count as a legitimate news source?

In my mind, 10 and 13 are both good news sources, probably better than the D&C.

Ahem. It is legitimate but not the news source of record.

Television reporters are professionals, but a lower class than print journalists.

Of course, print journalists are a lower caste than the editorial board. Here’s the whole caste system:

1. Any employee of the New York Times.

2. Editorial Board Member of the D&C.

3. Journalist at the D&C.

4. Printer at the D&C.

5. Janitor at the D&C.

6. On-Air “Personality” at a Television Station.

7. Radio Reporter.

8. Small child who has filled its diaper.

9. Pet cat with questionable litter box habits.

10. Salamander, snail or other similar slimy object.

11. Goat or other barnyard creature.

12. Ameoba or other unicellular organism, non-dysenteric.

13. New York TImes subscriber.

14. D&C Subscriber.

15. Bacterium.

16 (tie). Amoeba, dysenteric.

16 (tie). Blogger.

I actually had dinner about a year ago with a former chief editor of the New York Times editorial page (a friend held a wine tasting dinner that we both attended), so the very top of any classification. He was very down-to-earth and quite smart. I wonder if the people in the business today are more defensive because of blogs.

I think there’s a good chance that most Times writers/editors are pretty smart and down-to-earth. This ranking is from the envious eyes of the D&C, looking up at the Times.

Actually, they do respond to our attacks very often. They just don’t call us out by name. You know, they’ll write “Some people think we’ll endorse Maggie Brooks….”

Didn’t you know they were interviewing random citizens on Broad St. about this?

Wow, we really are the “some” in “some say”. I never knew “some” actually existed.
