Maggie Brooks - Wouldn’t know the truth if it hit her over the head.
Folks - it is all about winning and the Minarik/Maggie machine is simply chugging along. Check out this Westside attack piece.
Reading it you would think this Beebe guy is a piece of work for questioning the unF.A.I.R. plan. Unfortunately, our elected County Executive is the one who is the piece of work.
This quote:
Dick Beebe is misleading Greece and Charlotte voters about my tax cut plan. The truth is, our plan cuts the property tax rate, preserves quality of life services, ends the budget crisis and lifts the mandated Medicaid burden from the backs of of County taxpayers forever. And, using record increases in State Aid - schools don’t lose funding.
What has Dick Beebe proposed to solve the deficit? Nothing
Maggie Brooks and her political master Steve Minarik - are real pieces of work. Let’s look at the sentences shall we?
Dick Beebe is misleading Greece and Charlotte voters about my tax cut plan.
What exactly is he saying? The proposal was rammed through Maggie’s lockstep Legislature, which, by the way, includes Mr. DiRaddo, who clearly has no issues with voting for something without debate or community engagement. His vote here put loyalty to Maggie Minarik before loyalty to his own constituents, since the plan will most likely, ultimately, raise Greece taxes.
The truth is, our plan cuts the property tax rate, preserves quality of life services, ends the budget crisis and lifts the mandated Medicaid burden from the backs of of County taxpayers forever.
Standard talking point. It raises fees in other areas and disproportionately burdens the Westside towns with an MCC user tax. The use of the word Forever is particularly interesting. Forever is a long time. (I’ll look for the tape where Ms. Brooks was talking in the 5-10 year range of solving our budget problem.) So where does Forever come from?
And, using record increases in State Aid - schools don’t lose funding.
This part pisses me off. Yes, schools in general got record funding, but many in the poorer districts will actually LOSE money overall, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars each. And any increased funding from the state was tied to specific programs. LET ME SAY THAT AGAIN - IT WAS TIED TO A SPECIFIC PROGRAM OR ACTIVITY. So school districts could start a new program, or decrease class size, or whatever, they got money from the state to enable this.
What they are getting from “OUR” Executive Maggie Brooks is mid year reduction in county funds for schools that CANNOT be replaced. The State increases are tied to specific programs so dumping those programs would mean to forego state money. It is that simple.
What has Dick Beebe proposed to solve the deficit? Nothing
Um - he is running for office on a platform of open non-divisive government. He is looking to restore a balance in County Government. That alone is a lot more than our current GOP lockstep legislature is doing.
(h/t to reader geekpundit, who was kind enough to send us the flyer)

Maggie has been all over the airwaves for months.
I saw the first response to her– from the Monroe County Federation of Teachers– finally.
It’s good but it’s too little. Where has the County Democratic committee been?
Without an exec candidate, whom else ought to be responding?
We’ve let her spread her propaganda without questioning her.
The MCDC is MIA, as they have been throughout the campaign. Out here on the eastside, I’ve seen zero canvassing or leafleting, and far more Republican yard signs.
As for “spreading propoganda”, that’s what happens when the opposition party doesn’t oppose. Without the megaphone of an opposition candidate, it’s hard to get out a unified message.
Back in mid October I pointed out this ad to you:
http://assembly.state.ny.us/member_files/134/20070803/
READ IT. You’ll see exactly where “Un” FAIR came from and why they need each and every piece of this puzzle.
It’s a Bill Reilich ad that points out 7 things you need to know about your tax rebate check:
“Bill Reilich secured $1.3 billion in property tax rebate checks for homeowners in this year’s state budget, and $4 billion over the next 2 years.
Now he wants to make sure you receive yours!”
In an effort to lower property taxes for Monroe County residents while ensuring that students receive the best possible education, Assemblyman Reilich secured record increases in state school aid in the 2007-08 budget.
Monroe County schools will receive over $72.8 million in state school aid, a 10% increase over last year.
*****THIS IS THE EXACT MONEY MAGGIE HAS TARGETED!*****
“The largest portion of property taxes goes toward school funding. By increasing state aid to Monroe County school districts, it is my hope that we can lower property taxes for homeowners.â€ÂÂ
–Assemblyman Bill Reilich
…It further goes on to say:
Assemblyman Reilich also sponsored this year’s Property Taxpayer Protection Act. The Act would lower property taxes by:
Limiting the growth of school district tax levies to 4 percent or the rate of inflation, whichever is less;
Requiring any state mandate imposed on school districts to be funded by the state;
Providing counties with $7.5 million to conduct in-depth Medicaid fraud investigations to recoup fraudulent Medicaid claims; and
Creating a State Inspector General for Education to investigate financial abuses in schools.
…So this legislation was drafted and worked on since 2006. They got the schools to rally behind the increase in school funding, and got the taxpayers to rally behind the rebate check knowing the whole time (and laughing all the way to the bank) that they were going to turn around and swipe it. This wasn’t some pie in the sky dream where all of a sudden they woke up and said “Hey, let’s take the sales tax money!”…this was a well-thought out, pre-planned, premeditated plan that tricked the state (or perhaps Pataki was aware, involved and supportive)…tricked the schools, and the taxpayers.
What’s interesting as well, is if you take the same link, (http://assembly.state.ny.us/member_files/134/20070803/) and just change the # of the assembly district, you’ll see the State Rethugs did this for each and every Republican assembly member - targeting specific issues directly to their respective areas - the EXACT same ad, custom tailored to each GOP assemblyman.
BUT - ONLY REILICH has the mention of the EXACT same amount of money Maggie references when she says “record funding - a 10% increase to schools” in the ad.
This was a well-thought out elaborate plan. They KNEW they were going to take the money for at least 2 years. 2 freakin years - and what’s so BOGUS is that the increase was funded by TAXPAYERS - and now we’re funding her FOLLY too!
This information needs to be posted so that the school districts suing the county can know that this WAS intentional. They were never going to receive that aid. They took a loan off the taxpayers and turned it into a GRANT.
And it’s bigger than the county level - it went all the way up to the state level (imagine that since Minarik was at that same level in his role as State GOP Leader)…
What’s sickening is that the schools are going to sue the county (which means our schools taxes are going to pay to sue the county, who our property taxes support)…so in essence, they’re stealing even more of our money to fight their turf wars.
OUTRAGEOUS!
EACH AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE BASTARDS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED - RIGHT DOWN THE LINE.
And while they’re at it, get back all that stolen money (10’s of thousands) from the Lakeshore Fire Department too!
Is anyone in office watching anything other than their own keester these days????
Itchy quote: I think my head is going to explode.
Maggie doesn’t cannot afford to lose one of her “Boy Toys” in the Legislature or the Assembly.
Which is why we MUST elect Beebe.
I’d also like to see you guys do a breakdown of all the suburban towns on reassessments of property, and overall % of the increase in county taxes secured as a result of suburban reassessments.
Although Maggie likes to tout herself as not raising county taxes, she relies on these suburban boy toys to reassess the properties within the communities to bring home the bacon in yet another deceptive, underhanded attempt to bring money home to momma. I’ve talked to homeowners in suburbia who have had a reassessment every year for 4 years, with Rethug Supervisors mandating that if you add a new porch to your home, you’re reassessed on value significantly as a result. Every little improvement you make results in thousands in reassessed value resulting in hundreds more per year for each and every homeowner.
This not only bolsters the county and town coffers, but discourages people from making any improvements in their properties as a result.
Then they keep people living in fear of contesting the reassessment, or hire crooks like they did in Greece who are under federal indictment as a result of their criminal behavior.
I think there is alot of criminal behavior going on through the county ala Minarik. We need to pull the wrapper off each and every one of their little packages and expose them for what they really are - CROOKS.
What would be even more interesting would be to compare homeowner assessments to business assessments in the towns. Its my understanding that certain towns have been reassessing homeowners more frequently than businesses.
this is the same exact mailer we got in Webster, just swap in a picture of Maggie and the Giant Toupee and change DiRaddo’s name to Malta where appropriate.
Can anyone send us an image of what gladlysb2 is referring to? Thanks
today is garbage day, it may have already been recycled…i will go check the blue bin now and send it over later if I can.
Pulled the mailer back from the blue box…(even though that is where it belongs).

Thanks - I’ll pull it down later today. Thanks again
I believe I heard brother Wease talking about the same piece used against his wife, Doreen, who is running in Penfield.
