More on Maggie/Minarik’s taxpayer deception plan - D&C says vote no

I originally wanted to title the headline Breaking: stlo7/Lawrence op-ed page agree. But regular readers to this page know the D&C isn’t looking for my approval nor am I theirs.

You probably know that there is a ballot initiative on the November ballot titled the Taxpayers Protection Plan - and it was dreamt up by the GOP political machine to save us from a threat that simply doesn’t happen.

I am very pleased that the fallacy of this plan is brought out in a well written piece by the D&C.

We have already discussed the background and how it only deals with 20% of a budget that hasn’t been expanded outside the existing boundary in several years. This line of the op-ed piece summed it up rather nicely. (my emphasis)

This is one of those feel-good snow jobs that politicians like to sprinkle over voters with the objective of accomplishing something completely different — in this case, re-electing the majority Republican legislators who dreamed up this idea.

County residents should send a clear message to lawmakers that this sort of hidden-ball trick isn’t appreciated.

Spot on Mr. Lawrence.
