Where Does Ray DiRaddo Really Live?

It’s come to our attention that Ray DiRaddo may be keeping an apartment in the 6th Legislative District, but that his primary residence might actually be on Olympia Drive, which is in the 5th Legislative District.

Where Does Ray sleep at night? Is an apartment really his “fixed, permanent and principal home”, or is home a comfortable ranch house that he owns with his wife, on quiet Olympia Drive?

We believe that Ray’s keeping the apartment to satisfy his residency requirement, and nothing more. But just paying rent DOES NOT satisfy NYS Election Law:

22. The term “residence” shall be deemed to mean that place where a person maintains a fixed, permanent and principal home and to which he, wherever temporarily located, always intends to return.

It’s time for Ray to come clean with his constituents. Where do you REALLY live, Ray?

Is someone else living in the apartment (sublease)? If not, how profitable is this arrangement for him? I’m wondering what his net earnings are from his position as county legislator, after paying rent for an unused apartment.

I wonder why Mr. DiRaddo doesn’t have appear to have any campaign finance records filed on the NYS BOE website? He’s got to be raising/spending funds. I typed his last name into the search engine.

I searched for Highlander Associates and Kimberly Wolff (the owner of Highlander Associates Ltd.) in the campaign filing records, but nothing came up.

By the way, since I haven’t seen this information posted elsewhere. If anyone ever wants to know who the owner of a small business is in NYS, or the names of the CEO or Chairman of a coporation located in NYS, just go to the Division of Corporations homepage on the NY Dept. of State website. When you arrive at the homepage, you will see a link listed on the left hand side of the page titled “Search the Corporation/Business Entity Database.” Follow the link and the rest is self-explanatory.

County candidates would probably only file with the County Board of Elections which could be why a search on the state site turned up nothing.

Then why do our local Supervisor and Town Council campaigns have to file with the state BOE? Any campaign that raises over $1K is required to by law.

So even if this is illegal (it is certainly improper, but that seems to be this incumbent’s M.O.) is there any chance anything could possibly be done about this before election day? I’m curious if anyone has experience with election law and post-electoral results/issues. Hopefully Mr. Beebe will win, but that doesn’t get Mr. DiRaddo out of Greece politics.

    From the County Code:

§ C2-3. Qualifications; judge of qualifications.

” A.All County Legislators shall be electors of the County, and, except in an election year in which the County legislative districts have been redrawn, shall have been residents continuously in the County and in the district from which they seek election for at least 30 days preceding the first day to circulate nominating petitions for the office of County Legislator under the election law. Upon taking office, County Legislators shall continue to be residents of the County and the districts which they represent for the entire term of their office. [Amended 6-8-1993 by L.L. No. 7-1993, approved 6-28-1993 EN]

B.Judge of qualifications. The County Legislature shall be in charge of the qualifications of its members and for that purpose shall have the power to conduct hearings, subpoena witnesses, take testimony and require the production of pertinent records. Hearings pursuant to this section shall be convened only by vote of a majority of the full Legislature (i.e., at least 15 affirmative votes), and shall be held before the the full Legislature. Decisions made by the County Legislature in the exercise of powers granted by this section shall be subject to review by the courts pursuant to Article 78 of the Civil Practice Law and Rules of the State of New York. ”

Let’s see - the county leg gets to decide. Seems to me this might be more of a publicity issue. Oh wait, that would require some reporting, wouldn’t it? Oh well, we can dream, can’t we?

According to the Northgate Manor website, an apartment can be had for about $435. a month. The Legislature position pays about 18K annually. So $5220.00 to keep your address in the district, about 12,800. in your pocket, and the almighty powerful vote and control you can give to Maggie.

    …Apartment in the 6th LD = $5.220.00
    …Legislative salary in the 6th LD = $18,000.00
…Control of Westside operations for Maggie = PRICELESS

For those who have the time - there is a “Candidates Night” sponsored in Greece tonight where DIraddo will be in attendance. All candidates can be asked questions from the public - anyone want to print this map out and ask the man where he lives? :)

I have a 7:00 appointment, but I’m going to come late and hopefully won’t miss it!
