A reader writes in on D&C endorsements
A reader wrote in with this to say about some of the D&C’s endorsements:
—————————————————-
The D&C is just pathetic. Today they endorsed Yolevich for the County Leg. Here’s the key quote:
Dunn is smart and schooled on the issues. But he has failed to articulate a vision for the district and the county that is different from that of his more experienced opponent. When asked, for instance, to explain how he would reform the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency, he cited the need to track job pledges. That’s already happening. Change requires fresh ideas.
They say Todd “failed to articulate a vision for the district and the county that is different from that of his more experienced opponent.” What the hell are they even talking about?!? Yolevich and Todd couldn’t get further apart on the issues. Then they say the COMIDA job pledges are already being tracked! Sure, but when the county finds out a pledge was broken there is no attempt to recoup the breaks already doled out, that’s where Todd and Dick differ.
This editorial board is seriously losing its relevancy.
I wonder if they’re going to endorse Maggie simply punt the exec race endorsement this year.

Update: At least they endorsed Gumina over Malta. And Nixon over Daniele.

They endorsed Nixon in the 10th. That’s an open seat though.
I think the real issue is that they endorsed DiRaddo over Beebe, as you previously pointed out he and many others have their hands in Greece and County government. And they endorsed DiRaddo because he as been in his community for longer not because of ideas or policies or anything…ridiculous.
Any chance Tom Tobin sits on the endorsement review panel? The logic sounds awfully similar to:
“But Gore, or any other president in that circumstance, might well have driven us into another kind of holy horror.”
We have evidence that Yolevich is doing a crappy job for his consituents. The D&C even points out, “[Yolevich] needs to demonstrate independence from the leadership on such issues as the F.A.I.R. plan, which he has endorsed too uncritically.”
Yet, it appears the D&C has decided it’s too risky to endorse someone who doesn’t have a record of doing a poor job as a representative for his community. I mean, who knows what Dunn is capable of doing as a county legislator?
It’s a possibility that Dunn COULD BE WORSE!
For Pete’s sake, did they endorse all the incumbents except Malta?
“has endorsed too uncritically…” That’s a major understatement.
