DCCC crushes NRCC in 3Q

This is getting ridiculous (via the Politico):

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee continues to hold a significant fundraising advantage over the National Republican Congressional Committee in third-quarter fundraising reports released today.

The DCCC raised about $16 million in the third quarter — over twice as much as the NRCC’s $7.7 million sum.

At the end of September, the DCCC reported over $28 million cash-on-hand, and have only $2.9 million in debt. By contrast, the NRCC reported only $1.6 million cash on hand, with $3.9 million in debt.

I don’t have figures for the Senate committees yet, but I’m confident that the Senator from Flatbush brought in more money than Libby Dole John Ensign.

In related news, Mel Martinez, head of the Republican National Committee, just quit.

For the truly hardcore among you: conventional wisdom is that the RNC and DNC will dump all their money into the presidential campaign, which makes the Democratic money advantage in its House and Senate committees that much more important for Congressional races.  If the DCCC continues to outraise the NRCC at a 2:1 clip, that’s likely to mean something like twice as much outside money for Massa as for Kuhl and for Maffei as for Walsh (Reynolds is a special case, since he used to be head of the the NRCC).  That’s huge, Rochester, huge.
