A vote against SCHIPS is a vote against veterans

I had an after-work meeting this PM and when I finally got myself over to Fairport to attend the Metro Justice Vigil across from Rubber-Satmping Randy’s office regarding SCHIPS everyone had already dispersed, so if any of our readers attended, we’d love a report on number of people attending and mood.

[An attendee of the vigil is sitting at my kitchen table eating chocolate cake and drinking coffee and for this payment, he is telling me the details of the vigil:

About 30 people attended holding signs that said things like, "Rubber Stamp Randy", "Randy doesn't care about kids" etc. Jon Greenbaum spoke about his experience with health-care coverage for his daughter who had an operation on her foot which cost $12,000 and had she not been covered he would have had to sell his house to pay for it.

In Randy Kuhl's district, under the present plan, 10,000 kids will go without health insurance]

That being said, on the way home, listening to Rachel Maddow, I learned that the SCHIPS bill has a provision in it to extend the family leave for relatives of wounded/disabled soldiers from 90 days to 6 months. So, in essence, a vote against SCHIPS is a vote against veterans. Once again, Randy, you show your disdain for our military in your rubber-stamping of the Decider’s decision.

Not to take away from the importance of the good and appreciated efforts of those who stand up to Kuhl and his SCHIP veto allies, but speaking iof Rachel Maddow…I heard today on both Bill Press and Ed Schultz that Randi Rhodes was brutally mugged 2 days ago while walking her dog in NYC. They reported she is in very bad shape and that those who assaulted her brutally beat her face and knocked out quite a few of her teeth. She was not carrying a purse, wearing jewelry, had no cash, was wearing sweats.

They are investigating further…let’s hope she heals quickly and completely. She’s been the target lately of many threats due to the fact that she is broadcasting and allowing soldiers in Iraq to voice their opinions on her show. She has been warned that she is compromising National Security in doing so. Then this happens.

According to Air America’s website, that report is unfounded:

Randi Rhodes
October 16-NEW YORK
On Sunday evening, October 14, Air America host Randi Rhodes experienced an unfortunate incident hindering her from hosting her show. The reports of a presumed hate crime are unfounded. Ms. Rhodes looks forward to being back on the air on Thursday.

The campaign contributions report today shows that Kuhl cashed a thousand dollar check from RJR Tobacco one week before voting against SCHIP and its big cigarette tax increase. It was the second thousand dollar check from RJR this year. Wonder how many more he’ll get befor 11/08

Rubber stamp Randy does not care about the estimated 10,000 kids in his district that will not have health care coverage. If anyone knows about a family that will suffer as a result of the veto please post their info so it can be presented to the public.
