Running scared
All the Republican candidates for County Lej skipped the Voice of the Voter forum the D&C and WXXI held last night. Democrat Don Beebe missed it too, but in his case it was because of a severe eye injury. Here’s why the various Republicans skipped it:
— Legislator Ray DiRaddo, R-Greece, had a couple of emergencies.– Legislator David Malta, R-Webster, had work to do.
– Peter Kelderhouse, the Republican candidate in the 16th District, did not respond to the invitation.
– Anthony Daniele, the Republican candidate in the 10th District, initially said he would participate, but pulled out today after his advisers at Republican headquarters said there would be too much potential for an ambush.
Who’s got the most pathetic excuse? I’m going with Daniele. “Ambush”? This is a debate, not the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

They’re taking cues from the national Republican candidates who skipped the debates on race.
But I thought Republicans were interested in open debate. Guess not. Like Maggie Brooks wanting public forums.
Just when are those forums anyway.
Will there be another one?
Standing room only in Henrietta tonight?
They’re WAY too bush running around telling voters the sky is falling. Chicken sh*ts!
So they avoided it because it wouldn’t be FAIR?
Unfortunately, due to a scheduling snafu and a flight to New York, Jon cannot attend link up tonight but will try to reschedule for November or December.
We will still meet at 6:30 to accomodate anyone who doesn’t receive this message, but there’s no need to start immediately at 6:30, so please feel free to join us when you can. We will hear from Ted Nixon about the campaign (it’s going well!) and discuss the Monroe County Budget fiasco and its impact. I know Eric Massa is in town tonight and I believe he is still stopping by.
Link up is at Jay’s diner at 2612 W. Henrietta Road.
Sorry for any inconvenience and I hope you can still make it.
Jon is excited to meet with us eventually and we both regret the change.
Please spread the word - especially to anyone who was attending only because of Jon’s participation.
Daniele’s excuse is pathetic, but honest. Seems he answers only to the Republicans pulling his strings. What about the people he wants to represent? Do they get a chance to hear from him?
Obviously, Mr. Daniele isn’t ready to be elected to work for and represent people if he is afraid of speaking to the people. I think most people would call him a coward.
I’m sorry, but this just has to be said….
