This is nothing but a political move. It's main goal:

To get a Republican president elected. Thus, the Republicans are the party to get our troops out of Iraq...

Absolutely. Amazing that the GOP is more scared of Bush than of doing the right thing for our troops.

Agreed. Exile's off for the weekend, so speaking on his behalf I'll say he was being sarcastic about being a great idea.

The right thing to do is full scale withdrawal asap, proceeding to the exit doors in an orderly fashion.

Adding, this so-called great idea leaves the Deciderer guy to mismanage the war for another 16 months. It sends another thousand or so Americans to their death. It will result in thousands more American injuries, and some of those injured in the next 16 months will be maimed and require life-long medical care. It disrupts the lives of our 150,000 troops for 16 more months, whose families and personal lives have been horribly disrupted already. It wastes (as a guess) 200 BILLION DOLLARS more, money that is desperately needed at home. It decimates our armed forces and makes us unresponsive to other global threats, for years to come after we finally get out of Iraq. It does not make us any safer. It does nothing to stop terrorism (as Iraq was NEVER about terrorism). It does nothing to catch Osama bin Laden. It does nothing to make things better in Iraq.

Above is the message you should be hearing from Democrats and from progressive blogs. Nothing great about this idea. But on the other hand, it lets Rethuglicans sound like they are serious about ending the Iraq war and it spares the Deciderer's feelings somewhat.

This is NOT a great idea.

It is a political maneuver designed to let Rethuglicans appear to be in favor of ending the war. And it must be described as such, not described as a great idea.

A better idea would be to end the war as quickly as possible, starting today. If the Democrats had any clue as to what to do and get out ahead of the curve, this is what they would support. It is what I support.
