No opportunity for real debate or community discussion

Brighton Town Supervisor Sandy Frankel nails the crux of the the matter of the tax intercept plan.

By coming in special session this evening there is no opportunity for real debate in this body. There is no opportunity for real community discussion and consideration of the details of the plan. It is an abridgement of the Democratic process in a very real way that engages the citizens and gives them the opportunity to speak to their representatives and to have the concerns and details known before a vote is taken.

But you can listen to Sandy say it all here.

Yep sounds like Republican lead county government to me. Again, this is what happens when politics trump good governance.

A special meeting is held, debate is limited and questionable legislation is passed.

RT–you should compare and contrast what was said last year when the Republicans moved the budget vote until after the election. They defended that action by saying it gave the community more time to review the budget…then you have meetings like last night in which there was no time to review the proposals that were about to be voted on.

After reading the D&C article on Greece Supervisor Aubergers “vision” for the next 20 years - which is basically just “blame the state”…I have to wonder if Meatloaf Minarek isn’t writing the same speech for them all - this is just amazing!

The republicans are completely out of touch with “local”…completely and utterly clueless (perhaps intentionally) and their level of arrogance is deplorable.

I’m sure you meant to say the arguments by Sandy fell on the deaf ears of the Republican Majority.

There will be more video (yeah yeah promises promises St lo) where the arguments from our Democratic Legislators also fell on deaf ears.

I’m anxious to see the Paul Haney incident video. Do we have that on tape?
