Maggie Brooks = Steve Minarik

We have discussed (and will continue to discuss) the tax intercept plan and the lack of a budget plan by the Brooks administration. I discussed it here - Ladkiddo piled on and Exile referred to the John Goodman article in yesterday’s paper.

What I found interesting in today’s article is the last series of paragraphs.

What is now looming as the biggest unknown is what Brooks and the Republican majority will offer as an alternative.

The Republican leadership periodically meets with Brooks administration officials to discuss possible ways to address the county’s chronic problem of expenses outpacing revenue.

County GOP Chairman Steve Minarik said that he expected a plan would be unveiled before the November elections.

“Nothing has been removed from the table,” Minarik said.

Why is the County GOP political leadeship consulted at all. Partisan policy is not a substitute for governing. Sure, it is Minarik’s job to get people elected, something he seems to do well in Monroe County. Now he is in the policy business?

He has successfully engineered a Republican Majority in the Legislature and a Republican County Executive. How is that working for us? $50 million dollar deficit with a projected 2009 deficit @ $100 million.

I thought that our elected officials did the governing - leave the partisan political hacks out of government.

What a record “Meatloaf” has…he’s about effective with “policy” in Monroe County as he was leading the State GOP.

Perhaps local republicans should consider doing what state and national republicans did - give him “‘the boot”.

You know Jiminy, there’s a saying “Tis better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak up and confirm the fact”.

Your comments about Steve Minarik are pure emotion and have no basis in fact. The story behind Steve’s tenure in the State GOP post is quite complex and it has nothing to do with his competence. You ought to restrain yourself from opining on things you really don’t know much about.

Why can’t you face the fact that the real reason you seem to despise Steve so much is that he is so sucessful. The Democrats have not had a leader in his league since Fran Weisberg.

[...] Republicans, by the way.ÂÂ Including, of course, Steve Minarik, who apparently sets policy for the Brooks administration. (I heard someone today say “Maggie is Steve Minarik’s happy [...]

You know what John? “Tis better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak up and confirm the fact”. Tis your reaction each and everytime someone hits a little to close to the “nerve”.

The truth hurts, eh?
