Dated and Provincial Attitudes in Monroe County
Ah the good old days - Remember when we had leaders who fought dated and provincial attitudes? They led nation-wide campaigns and changed these attitudes? Have we forgotten how to do that?
Following up on Ladkiddo’s great post- Monroe County does not have Domestic Partner Benefits.
Why do we have to accept this?
I went to the Legislature meeting to hear about the Tax Intercept proposal that somehow didn’t make it on the agenda. I ended up learning that the Monroe County does not offer domestic partner benefits. Why? I mean if it is good enough for these local companies - Why not?

Meet - Bess Watts. Spend 1:37 seconds listening to the arguments. She lists the local companies (more than the link above) - She says “all these companies create an environment where employees can flourish”. I mean wouldn’t we want flourishing Public employees? Employees that provide a little more effort? Public employees.

Then there is - Ann Tischer - She says studies show employees are more productive when Management cares about them. The cost of this program will be outweighed by the benefits.

Get it together Monroe County. Please. How hard can this be?

I don’t even know how they think this plays in their favor. I mean this is Rochester with a rich tradition of social progressivism, not Kansas.
