An evening with General Batiste
We (Exile, Ladkiddo, and myself) just got back from covering the fund raising event for Eric Massa. General Batiste was a the headliner and spoke eloquently for more than an hour about all things Iraq. We’ll have pictures and video as soon as it is processed (right after we’re done witht the MC Leg Domestic partner program video and COMIDA hearing video).
This isn’t the definitive post as we need to review our notes but in the meanwhile some quick observations.
Batiste is more than capable of speaking for himself (which he will in the video) but the bottom line is he is advocating an immediate draw down. Immediate in his terms is a 6 to 18 month activity. Personally, that makes sense. We can’t beam the troops out instantaneously - moving the force takes time.
I asked him about my favorite, General Odom. I’ve written and mentioned Odom’s op-ed every month on the 16th. You should have seen his eyes light up. He said Odom was a friend of his and that he agreed with Odom’s assessments.
It is wonderful to meet someone with such conviction. Welcome to Rochester, General Batiste!
