It's a sad day when elected officials ignore their duties and their supporters shrug and say "free country."

Ah Bigboy are we perhaps actually agreeing here? I don't know why the D&C wrote the op-ed and your speculation makes sense. I wasn't' kind in my post.

Can Durso get away with this stuff? Sure - as long as the public lets him. How does the public know? Well - They get their news Via TV and the newspaper.

The newspaper and the rest of the media helped created this mess.

Let's tie this to COMIDA. The D&C had a great article covering the public hearings at the MC Legislature, it appeared the next day. When will the next article on COMIDA be written? Who knows. No dig on the article, but I believe you could really dig into COMIDA and shed light in that area.

Any takers when the next COMIDA article will be written? Same with most everything this administration does. Ren square etc. Cover it like a blanket and give people a chance to respond. Force them to, because they no longer control the debate.

The question is, is the D&C up to the task?

Stlo7, I agree with analysis of the situation and wanting it to make it better. Unfortunately, we are going to get more of what was written below:

"Spokesman John Durso said the county executive didn’t have to respond to the Editorial Board."

He right when he has she doesnt' have to respond. Free country, right?

They are right to say "oh,yeah, if want to be re-elected, you really should respond."

He is right to say "Yeah well, we are going to be re-elected anyway".

They are right to feel that the power of the local print media should be respected because its editorials should have some sway in the election.

He is right to feel that print media no longer has any sway or at least in this particular election.

And the D&C knows it no longer holds sway - which is why they wrote the editorial in the first place.

Cheers,
