COMIDA Public Hearings– Who Really Cares?
Democrats in the Monroe County Legislature, that’s who cares.
- The Administration? Nope
- COMIDA Board? Nope
- Republicans in the Legislature ? Nope
- Press? Depends - if they continually and objectively report (with analysis) the folly that is Monroe County’s COMIDA program - sure.
I’ll have a series of posts about the COMIDA pubic hearing in the next few weeks. Clips of speakers and such. They will take time to write and process, so be patient.
In the meanwhile - last night the Democratic Caucus held a public hearing on COMIDA. More than 20 speakers attended and gave their views on the mismanagement pork industry redirection of public tax dollars money laundering enterprise that is COMIDA.
Looks like the Democrats care. They showed up.
The press was there. Channels 10, 13. The D&C (John Goodman) and City (Jeremy Moule) were print folks who I recognized.
The meeting started at 6:00. Channels 10 and 13 left at 6:39 and 6:41 respectively after 3 speakers (I am w/o notes I believe it was 3). They must already know the story because they only needed footage of a couple of people. Here is the coverage by Channels 10 (if you can find coverage on their website) and Channel 13. I didn’t see the 11:00 news.
The D&C and City were there until the end. That is why you can have a solid lengthy article like the one this mornings in the D&C. City Newspaper is not yet published, but I’m sure Jeremy is doing the same thing.
Does the Press care? Well - if they keep highlighting the folly that is COMIDA with continual objective analysis.
Did I mention that not one member of the Republican Caucus, or COMIDA, or the Brooks Administration was there? I suppose if they were really concerned about the accusations of incompetence they would have made a token appearance. Do they care what people think? They simply look like a bunch of empty chairs.
The Republicans could care less:
Republican side of the aisle
Administration table
More later - watch the clips that will be posted. Lots of excellent clear and concise speakers.
If you need a clip fix ahead of the speakers last night check out my post leading up to to this hearing.
