Public COMIDA Hearings - tomorrow

Damn Thursday is here already. I meant to post this based on a flier I received at the Labor Day Parade.

Tomorrow there is a public hearing on County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency (COMIDA) at the legislative chambers. If you want to speak you need to call the Democratic Caucus office @ 753-1940 to sign up.

WHAT: COMIDA Hearing
WHEN: Thursday, September 13th at 6:00 PM
WHERE: Legislative Chambers
Fourth Floor
Monroe County Office Building
39 West Main Street
Rochester, New York

So what would you talk about. Need a refresher about COMIDA?

Well - there was the Comptroller’s report demonstrating secrecy by Monroe County government (the Doyle administration and carried through to Maggie’s) shifting state money to Air Trans by laundering it through COMIDA. Heck, even with the years of COMIDA tax breaks our economy still rate an “F”.

Remember the Brighton Lodging applicant Manish Patel saying his business case depends on the COMIDA grant. He received a loan because he knew that the COMIDA grant would be approved - and who said the COMIDA as implemented in Monroe County is simply a kangeroo court despite the voice of the town elected officials like Supervisor Sandy Frankel or Jim Vogel and despite public resistance by residents at a public forum. Then there is the companies who fail to deliver the jobs like Careguide or companies that spend billions of dollars need a 725K tax break.

Have fun, follow the links and tell the Monroe County government what you think of COMIDA Thursday night.
