Why do Republicans hate the troops?
Actually what I mean is why can’t the Republican party mange this war - but this post’s title and poor war management are the same thing.
Like a gambling addict with a credit card - the Republicans have been denied nothing in pursuit of this war. All their funding requests have been granted courtesy of the Democratic party. Kuhl, Reynolds, and Walsh continue to blindly support this president.
Recently we have seen the introduction of advertisements designed to bolster the popularity of supporting the Administration’s stay the course policy by vulnerable Congressional Republicans. Heck, Bush recently compared Iraq and Vietnam.
It has been more than 4 years (longer than WWII I might add) - you would think by now - the folks running this war would have figured things out by now.
In the latest news - we have vehicles that are better at withstanding IED explosions than the Hummers that are being used now. We’ve had these vehicles for a while but the Army will fall far short of their deployment.
WASHINGTON - The Pentagon will fall far short of its goal of sending 3,500 lifesaving armored vehicles to Iraq by the end of the year. Instead, officials expect to send about 1,500.

Earlier this year, production was a problem in the Pentagon’s struggle to get more MRAPs to Iraq. In a late June report, the Defense Department’s inspector general found that the Pentagon awarded contracts for the vehicles to companies that failed to produce them on time, despite knowing that there were other contractors who could have supplied some more quickly. Force Protection Industries was one of the companies in the report noted for delays.
The report concluded that those earlier problems “resulted in increased risk to the lives of soldiers.â€
Listen to a Marine General who says let’s not talk about these vehicles because they might be targets. Seems to be the mantra of all things Iraq - let’s not talk about it
Oh, just for fun check this out…
One of the companies that was deemed problematic was a company called Force Protection Inc. from South Carolina. Have a look at the political donations of their board of Directors. George the CEO, Raymond Pollack, Damon Walsh, Michael Aldrich here and here, Wayne Philips, John Wall.
