Stone us once, shame on him, Stone us twice…

Bruno consultant Roger Stone continues to claim the threatening message he left on Spitzer’s father’s phone machine is fake.  He admits the call did come from his apartment (tough to deny this one, given phone records), but says that someone snuck in and faked the call: “Putting together a voice tape that sounds like me wouldn’t be hard to do.”

Liz Benjamin of the Daily News recalls that this is not the first time Stone has come up with a crazy story to explain embarrassing behavior:

In September 1996, the National Enquirer wrote that Stone, then a volunteer spokesman for Sen. Bob Dole, had placed ads and photos seeking sexual partners for himself and his wife, Nydia. Stone denied the allegations, saying he did not place the ads himself and allegeing had been framed by a former domestic helper who had stolen both his photographs and his checkbook.

I’m wondering if “Stoner” is suffering from MPD?
