Stone Resigns as GOP Consultant

According to a press release from Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno, Roger Stone has resigned as a consultant to the NYS Senate Republicans. Daily Politics has the Bruno statement:

The news reports today on allegations regarding Roger Stone can only
serve as a distraction from the real issues - the abuse of government
power, political espionage and a cover up of information. These are the
real issues that are being reviewed by Albany County DA David Soares and
the State Ethics Commission.

Roger Stone was hired as a consultant to the Senate Republican
Campaign Committee in June. He has agreed to resign and end his
relationship with us at our request. We are not going to allow this
incident to become a distraction or to be used as an excuse to hamper
people from getting at the truth.

It’s sad that Bruno didn’t have the guts to fire Stone, as opposed to letting him resign, but that’s typical of Bruno’s spineless, empty actions in the past.

Now the obvious question must be asked: What did Joe Bruno know and when did he know it? After all, at the time Stone made the call, he was basically on Joe Bruno’s payroll. Hopefully, time will reveal the depth of Bruno’s involvement.
