White House, China approve of lead paint on toys
Posted without comment:
WASHINGTON — The Bush administration and China have both undermined efforts to tighten rules designed to ensure that lead paint isn’t used in toys, bibs, jewelry and other children’s products.
Both have fought efforts to better police imported toys from China.

The Bush administration has hindered regulation on two fronts, consumer advocates say. It stalled efforts to press for greater inspections of imported children’s products, and it altered the focus of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), moving it from aggressive protection of consumers to a more manufacturer-friendly approach.

David Broadbent is a local hero.
Something tells me George Bush grew up with lead painted toys….
I am seriously getting sick and tired of these tainted products from China. How come NOTHING is made in the United States anymore? Just the other day I went to walmart to buy some silverware and guess what it said on the back of the box? Made in china. Why would I want to buy silverware made in China? The last thing I need is tumors growing in my mouth from some tainted silverware. I want to buy silverware made in the USA! We’re outsourcing all our jobs. The glaciers are melting.. This is getting ridiculous.
