Completely classless

The Republican slime machine that supports Jim Walsh has kicked into high gear:

Onondaga County Republican Party officials apologized Thursday and removed a Web site posting that suggested a “growing list” of child predators support Democratic congressional candidate Dan Maffei.

(snip)

The posting began, “Dan Maffei must be shaking in his boots this morning to learn that yet another close advisor to his failed campaign for Congress has admitted to inappropriate sexual activity with minor children.”

(snip)

“It just really is terrible people are trying to score points off the backs of abused children,” said Dan Krupnick, of Clay, Maffei’s spokesman.

“The county Republican Party did a disservice to Republicans nationwide,” Krupnick said. “I’m glad to hear that it has been pulled down from the Web site. But the attack was a personal attack on Dan. Dan’s parents are social workers who have worked with abused children.”

What do you expect from the party of Karl Rove? It makes me sick the way Jim Walsh parades around, pretenting to be a nice guy moderate while his thugs engage in gutter tactics, like this and the nasty robocall campaign they ran last fall.

Luckily, voters are starting to see through these kinds of tactics. Let’s hope that the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle and Syracuse Post-Standard — both of which endorsed Walsh last time — see through them too. But I wouldn’t count on it.

That’s truly one of the dirtiest things I’ve ever heard of… the GOP should be ashamed and heads should roll for that one
