Howard goes Broadway (kinda, sorta)
Jake to star in a play about Howard Dean’s campaign, written by a Dean staffer. The play, called Farragut North, will be Gyllenhaal’s debut on Broadway:
Titled after the Washington, D.C. Metro station that is located near many lobbyists’ offices, the play is loosely based on democrat Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential election campaign (during which playwright Willimon worked for Dean). Riedel writes, “People involved in the reading say it reminds them of Primary Colors, Joe Klein’s novel about the Clintons, and The Best Man, Gore Vidal’s gripping 1964 play about presidential politics.” Directed by Tony Award-winner James Lapine (Spelling Bee, Sunday in the Park with George)
And speaking of HoDe, I know a certain former Democratic Presidential Candidate turned DNC Chairman who may be breezing into Rochester come January February (sorry-my bad). More on this story
as it develops.
