D&C: "Kuhl acts to protect staff
(Kuhl) said he will take measures to prevent protesters from threatening his staff."

Kuhl's feeling threatened by the protesters? Are you kidding me? A dozen hippies sitting on the floor of your office and singing kum-bay-yah are not a threat. That's a NON-VIOLENT protest, you fool.

If I were on Kuhl's staff, I'd feel much more threatened by my boss. During one of his alcoholic binges, he abused his wife and threatened her with a shotgun; the police were called to his house. Now he's saying that he's going to start carrying a gun.

Threatening, indeed.

My impression (if you read the piece in full, in context) was that Kuhl was feeling threatened by the protesters, not the other way around.

Props to those in the comments who have already seized on the issue:

zabriskie: PACKING! A sitting member of Congress just said that he thinks it might be a good idea to have guns around in case non violent protesters return to his office!

Jiminy Bizbo: Why not? If it’s good enough for his wife, it’s good enough for his constituents…

Nice.
