Run for your lives, protesters
From one of the D&C blog pieces on Kuhl’s visit to see the D&C Editorial board:
He said that the types of protests have caused him to rethink security at his offices and that means securing doors. He said they are “more protective now” and that he “thought about packing.”
I assumed he meant boxes, like he was thinking of moving his office, but apparently not
Ivan Ramos said…
Thought about packing?” Packing what? Heat?
Jerri S. Kaiser said…
Yes, heat, as in pistol packing Congressman.
What better way to deal with peace protesters than with a gun? I wonder if that offer to meet with them “at a later time” is really a threat. (Update: I’m kidding here, folks about it being a threat.)

Props to those in the comments who have already seized on the issue:
Nice.
My impression (if you read the piece in full, in context) was that Kuhl was feeling threatened by the protesters, not the other way around.
I know, I was kidding about the threat from Randy.
Oh. It’s hard to tell in cyberspace.
Kuhl Meets with D&C Editorial Board…
Rochesterturning has a story on Randy Kuhl’s meeting with the D&C editorial board. Their blog has three posts (here, here and here) concerning the meeting, which will be covered in tomorrow’s edition of the paper…….
D&C: “Kuhl acts to protect staff
(Kuhl) said he will take measures to prevent protesters from threatening his staff.”
Kuhl’s feeling threatened by the protesters? Are you kidding me? A dozen hippies sitting on the floor of your office and singing kum-bay-yah are not a threat. That’s a NON-VIOLENT protest, you fool.
If I were on Kuhl’s staff, I’d feel much more threatened by my boss. During one of his alcoholic binges, he abused his wife and threatened her with a shotgun; the police were called to his house. Now he’s saying that he’s going to start carrying a gun.
Threatening, indeed.
