D&C summary of yesterday’s filings
Joe Spector (who will soon be leaving for Albany) has a piece up at the D&C summarizing yesterday’s candidate filings. First off, to explain why we won’t til Monday who the Dems will run for county exec:
The party had until 5 p.m. to file paperwork in the county Board of Elections office, but had until midnight to postmark the paperwork for delivery by mail.
Here’s a bit more on the elections overall:
Even without an executive candidate, Morelle said this week that he’s pleased with the party’s slate, saying they were able to get candidates in many Republican-controlled suburban towns. Still, Democrats are not fielding candidates in Hamlin, Henrietta, Riga and Wheatland.”We are trying to be competitive everywhere in the county and we’re trying to make sure people have choices and that our message of change gets to everybody,” Morelle said.
Republicans, meanwhile, will look to retain or expand their control of the suburbs, maintain their majority in the County Legislature and win re-election for Brooks. They will also look to beat Democratic District Attorney Mike Green with GOP candidate Cara Briggs and win an open Family Court judge race between Republican Joe Nesser and Democrat Sid Farber.

Why can’t the county Dems just endorse Andrew Stainton?? He is someone who is voluntarily running for office. It been like pulling teeth for the Dems to find someone and I have to think whatever name is announced on Monday, it will be a very reluctant person.
Look for our exclusive interview with Stainton sometime tomorrow!
