Where does Monroe County Water Authority profit go?

Much is made over how cheap our water is here in Monroe County.

Have a look at this little tidbit from the RBJ.

The authority is the third-largest water supplier in New York. It reported operating revenues of $47.2 million and expenses of $38.3 million in 2004.

Look - Revenue minus expenses is profit. It doesn’t take an MBA to figure that out. That is 11 million dollars in profit.

Where does it go?

Profit $$$ probably goes to keep the water authority from running into the red down the road and/or a capital expense fund for future projects.
