Trampling on the Constitution again

I heard about this Executive Order today on the Bill Press Show and I couldn’t believe it, but here it is, in black and white for anyone who wants to read it. This is a significant extension of the Executive branch’s power and affects all of us, virtually anyone who protests our involvement in Iraq could be subject to having their assets seized by the government. I don’t know about you, but I think this is a little scary.

This, along with W’s signing statement which gives him the power to declare himself King of the World during a National Emergency, he, being the one to declare what constitutes a National Emergency, makes me just a little nervous about any future for this country to ever have any balance of power within the government again.

And isn’t Monroe county with Queen Maggie on the throne, just a microcosm of what is going on nationally? Queen Maggie keeping her subjects safe from the threat of library pornography as King George keeps us safe from the threat of terrorism. It’s all about distraction. Instead of Rove pulling the strings, we have Minarik. The County Exec and the County Leg ignore the Democratic legislators just like The Bush administration ignores the constitution. This is blatant abuse of power and disregard for the public. January 20, 2009 cannot come soon enough and in the meantime, won’t somebody step up from the Monroe County Democrats and challenge the Queen?

Morelle should resign as Chair of the party if the Democrats do not field a viable candidate to challenge Brooks.

In case you don’t have time to read the executive order, it can be summarized like this:

“Tuesday, there wasn’t even a fuss. Wednesday, the world was a little different. By executive order, the Secretary of the Treasury may now seize the property of any person who undermines efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq. The Secretary may make his determination in secret and after the fact.”

Remember, for four and a half, years, the administration has been arguing that protesting the war or dissenting from it undermines the effort in Iraq.

“So, as of yesterday, If you protest the war, the President can take your stuff!”

I’m hearing that John Durso has declared that he’s not part of the County’s executive branch…stay tuned.

Like the national emergency order signed in May, the mainstream media didn’t, if at all, widely report this new executive order. Add this to a long list of violations to the U.S. Constitution during this administration. And it’s not surprising the U.S. media has slipped to 53rd place on the 2006 annual index of Reporters Without Borders–U.S. was ranked 17th when the index began in 2002.

NO - it is HYPOCRITE Queen Maggic who in one breath wants to keep pornography out of the library, while the day after she is quoted on the news saying that she is working a deal (which she is still working on with Frontier) to provide WIRELESS INTERNET FREE to all residents of Monroe County.

So now the perverts can sit with the laptops in the park where the kids play, or even on the bumper of her car parked at the castle gates, and get all the porn they want for FREE.

Not to mention that she took the place where those who CANNOT afford a computer, the library, and screened the less fortunate, while those who can afford a laptop and a wireless network card get theirs for free.

It’s the gradual erosion of freedoms, and then, suddenly, one day you’re no longer free. Welcome to Bushville.
