Better a placeholder than no candidate at all
The Monroe County Democratic party has put up a candidate to run against Maggie Brooks for County Executive…sort of (via WXXI):
Today is the filing deadline at the Monroe County Board of Elections, and the Democrats have finally put forth a candidate’s name - for now.
Democrats submitted a petition nominating the executive director of the Monroe County Democratic Party Committee Adam Bello, as a placeholder. Bello will be declining the nomination and Democrats will submit a final candidate’s name by the July 27th replacement deadline.
Monroe County Democratic Committe Chairman Joe Morelle says that despite putting forth a placeholder today, they are close to a final decision on who will face Maggie Brooks in the fall.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again; the Democrats have blown any opportunity to win control of county government this year.
The honest truth is that no one wants to be painted a loser and anyone the Democrats run against Brooks will lose in the general election because of her big war chest. (0ver $800,000 and growing).
Memo to Joe Morelle: Stop trying to find a County Executive candidate and instead have qualified candidates to run in all legislative districts this year. You could have won the 15th LD had you found someone. Instead you chose a registered Green Party member. What were you thinking? The current incumbent is so unknown that he had to personally go out a second time and collect signatures on petitions just to be eligible to be on the ballot. Does that indicate to you Joe this guy is vunerable?
