Ticket Reselling in NY

Ticket Scalping reselling is now legal in NY. Remember when Spitzer argued for then signed a law legalizing it in June? I only purchased a ticket only once from other than the box office and recall worrying if it was legit up to the moment the usher tore it in half.

I wondered how this new law would eventually affect ticket prices. Basically I saw regular fans getting frozen out of a venue because the tickets would be purchased by people who have time to do such things and resold as a hefty profit.

Well, this article gives a good detailed background and some methods that events can use to ensure “regular” people can see the venue.

I dont’ think we have that problem so much in WNY. Nevertheless - the new law seems to be having an postive effect. At least per the article.

Any experiences out there?
