WEBSTER — Residents of the North East Joint Fire District today approved a plan to spend $8.5 million to build a new fire station in the village of Webster and renovate another station in Penfield.

The vote was 376 in favor, 261 opposed.

The vote gives the go-ahead for work to start on the plan to tear down the current Enderlin Station at 35 South Ave. and replace it with a new facility that would serve as district headquarters. Roseland Station, 1391 Salt Road, Penfield, also will be expanded.

Work at Enderlin Station will cost $6.8 million. At Roseland, the work will cost $1.7 million.
