NY-29: Kuhl’s spokesman is answered

Much like Randy Kuhl himself lying about his secret love affair with Social Security Privitization, his spokesmanVan Wicklin also played fast and loose with the truth last week, and hoped no-one noticed. Sadly for him, folks did notice.

What did he say exactly? Fighting 29th has the scans of the Corning Leader article here.

“It all has to do with voter turnout”, Van Wicklin said. “In the southern tier, voters turned out [in 2006]. In the north, they didn’t.”

I can’t believe this was not addressed by the Corning Leader or the steel-trap analysis Rottenchester normally provides on the Fighting 29th.

But even the best of us miss stuff from time to time, which is why it’s great to have many eyes on the ball. Check this scanned page from the Corning Leader (which doesn’t put their LTEs, or much else, on-line):

Hmm. Are they right? Let’s take a look at this in graphical form, based on the numbers from the NYS Board of Elections.

Wow– Van Wicklin is not only wrong, he’s totally wrong. Before I was just annoyed at Kuhl getting him that sweet job with the Defense Intelligence Agency, now I’m worried:

SOME GENERAL: Van Wicklin!

VAN WICKLIN: Yes, sir.

SG: What are the latest estimates for insurgent counts in Iraq?

VW: Uh, they’re pretty high in the southern tier of provinces but much lower in the north.
