It’s so early in this campaign - Early enough for Consultants, too early for Voters

More in the series on David Nachbar from video culled at the Brighton Democratic Committee. The question was asked to Mr Nachbar:

You said that no one spoke to you from other committees to get you to come and speak so people could get to know you. I know that there were a few other committees who invited you and you did not respond or not show up. How do you answer this?

Here is his response:

So Consultants and Meetings

ConsultantsÂ

I’m hiring the best people because you have to run a campaign like a business.

Did you notice the slight of hand of his answer? It was quick.

See that statement implies something that isn’t true. Business is not designed to serve everyone. Sure they serve a lot of people but look around. Does Business serve everyone or those that are most profitable to that business? Truth is - business is about profit and return on investment.

Practicing my mind reading skills, I think what Mr Nachbar meant to say is that he isn’t a campaigner so he will surround himself with the best people who know how to run a campaign and help him achieve his goals. People will be telling him what to do.

Where have we heard that before?

Finally, a good leader surrounds himself with smart, capable people. That’s been my hallmark in Texas and I am proud of the leaders who have come together to help me explore the prospects of a national campaign. The men and women on this stage represent the best of the Republican Party. I am grateful they will take time to help me make this decision and to recruit others to lead the campaign. From senior statesmen to current and future stars, they show that ours is a party that is open, that is diverse, that is principled — that ours is the party with an optimistic vision for the future of America.

Yeah - how is that working out? Yes, Nachbar isn’t Bush in March 1999 kicking off a Presidential bid - but the “surround yourself with good people” is the same argument. People have vested interested in their own agenda and how do I know they are going to look our for the average voter?

Again back to it is soooooo early to start. Look - it isn’t too early. You want to get a part in the school play? You need to practice ahead of time. One does not grow skills over night.

New soldiers undergo some level of preparation - Basic training- MOS school, speciality schools and finally to a unit where that person will likely undergo unit-specific training. They hone skills over time.

So - hire all the consultants and advisors you want. You still need to tell the difference between what is right and wrong for the district. Who are the consultants? Where are they from? What exactly is their expertise? What do they know about the 29th?

Meeting County and Town Committees or voter groupsÂ

Oh yeah - His assertion of only a couple of times they people invited him to a meeting and he had other commitments. Well, we know about Yates County, there were other counties as well. I know the local DFA group contacted Mr Nachbar several times w/o the courtesy of a response.  Something in his story doesn’t ring true here.

Any Town or County leaders want to chime in about their attempts to put Mr. Nachbar in front of a committee?

My question is why is it so early to engage the voters you expect to win over?

He also managed to dodge the fact that he didn’t just decline. IIRC, he didn’t respond at all. There is a big difference, there.
