Nachbar explains why he is running as he fishes for support.

Well - finally in his own words.

The supplied video has finally been processed. Think of this as B roll. The introduction of Mr Nachbar to a Democratic Committee. As you watch this clip or any others I’ll eventually post - listen for passion, fire, dedication, empathy, heart, and desire. If you hear it, let me know.

In this 6 minute clip, after Mr Nachbar thanks the committee for hosting him, he answers why he is running.

[ev type="youtube" data="WLsLioTjAAw"][/ev]

My summary is below:

He baits the hook with this quote, “…that usually one starts in politics and that leads to a good job.. especially lobbyist type jobs”, and lets the line out with his point, that in his career he has been in Human Resources where he continually listens to people’s stories, dreams and potential that they have.

Then he starts to reel in the audience with, he is doing this because there is a need for all of us to serve the country. Off to a list of statements - numbers of Americans w/o Health care, middle class is squeezed, debt load of the family, high gas prices, and a list of the rest of standard campaign issues.

“I want to be your strong voice in Washington…So, if you hire me for this job, that is what I’ll do every hour of each day”.

OK - my voice in Washington. Just a couple of quick thoughts. My voice had better understand where I’m coming from. My middle class needs, my hopes and desires, and had better not take me for granted.

Why Nachbar instead of Kuhl

I don’t want to spend a lot of time here because in my assessment Randy is an easy target of a Democratic opponent. But - Dems and Republicans like Randy’s town Hall meetings. Dems don’t like Randy’s coy evasiveness, but this Dem appreciates that he at least shows up. So, on to the standard Randy bashing - Randy’s town halls, not listening to people, He gets it wrong, the length of Randy Kuhl’s meetings - corrected mid-sentence that Randy spent 1 hour in Brighton instead of the purported 20 mins.

Finally he gets to what he wants to do.

The promise

Create opportunity, great paying jobs, access to health care, improvements in schools, security needs, keeping high school graduates, Iraq, and accountability.
He closes with what he believes his strengths are, delivering results. All his life it is about delivering results for people.

OK - the line has been cast, he is reeling it in, but I think he is forgetting who he is really talking to.

What did you hear from this very introductory clip ? Answers to specific questions will come later this week.

Honestly, man, I couldn’t get past the first two minutes. Granted, I’m not a fan of his, but worse than that, he’s so obviously an H.R. guy from a big company. They have the amazing ability to make the unpalatable just boring enough to be palatable, if only to get the hell out of the room quicker.

Far be it for me to put words in your mouth DFE but would that be a negative seeing fire, passion and the rest I was mentioned above?

The rest of the clips are coming - another one tomorrow morning - they get “better”.

That’s a negative, Red Rider.

I got 3 mins into it and stopped. I still don’t get this guy and something tells me that the DCCC is going to continue to shove him down our throats. Yes, he is definitely a better choice than Randy but he has to do much better than this. The whole HR-style feel to his speaking is just plain irritable.

When new moms go home from the hospital with their first babies, I tell them, “Sometimes the baby will cry because she has an immature nervous system and she won’t know why she is crying, so you can’t possibly know why she’s crying”.
So, since I can’t figure out why Nachbar is running, I guess I’ll have to attribute it to the same thing-immature nervous system, I guess.

I think it would be amusing to place Nachbar, giving his stump speech, on some corner in the Southern Tier to see what happens.

I see he’s trying to reach out to the common man. He’s taken off the jacket to his thousand dollar pin-striped suit.
