MP: Brighton Going Green
This is cool. We noted Irondequoit’s new focus on environmentalism recently. What do the Brighton and Irondequoit town governments have in common. I’ll give you a hint, there’s a lotta Dems running the place.
These two towns are hopefully the beginning of the critical mass we’ll need to start building a sustainable economy in our region. From the Messenger Post:
Brighton going ‘green’
A new task force will work to educate the community about environmental issues.
The town of Brighton has announced the creation of the Green Brighton Task Force following the lead of national, state and county governments in making strides to improve the environment.
Green Brighton will act as Brighton’s leading agency for environmental change after the town council unanimously approved an adoption of the Mayors’ Climate Protection Agreement in May.
(snip)
“Whether or not you believe everything they say about global warming, I always say there’s nothing to be lost in trying,†[Brighton Supervisor Frankel] said.
This part is encouraging:
“I was pleasantly surprised (at the number of people who first signed on), but in some ways I wasn’t surprised because I know there’s a lot of interest and motivation on the subject,†Berger said. “I believe this will be effective in Brighton because we have a lot of open-minded people who recognize the importance of reducing our resource use.â€
Good stuff. Keep it coming!

And on that note, I hope to be posting soon on wind power and this article in particular
There was also an article recently in the D&C on windpower, but it might’ve disappeared into their archives by now.
Can I tell you how much it ticks me off that our ephemeral local rag is completely worthless as a paper-of-record?
It’s bad enough that it’s not indexed anywhere (library included), but they can’t even be bothered to permalink their articles.
Yep– the archive thang is a constant irritant to me. For some reason, your comment sounds like it could be coming from Rottenchester (that’s a complement). I wonder what his opinion of the D&C is.

itchy,
MPN has spiffed up its website, the archives and internal search features are GONE. Access to the archives and online PDF pages were the reason I subscribed to the BP post.
Update: PDFs are available……..hard to find but there.
So where is our wind genrators and solar panels already???? The public is ready. Let Brighton set the example! Stop getting bogged down with lip service and inaction.
