Tobin nails Bruno

I hate to admit it, but I’ve become a bit of a fan of Tom Tobin’s contributions to the D&C Editorial blog. This one nails Joe Bruno perfectly (it really is hard to tell if Bruno could possibly be serious with some of the stuff he says):

On the subject of campaign finance reform, it’s hard to know if state Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno is serious or just trying to tweak the other side with the political version of trash talk. At the public leadership meeting last week, Bruno represented the view that people should be able to give as much as they want to a political campaign, that limits of any kind were odious and an infringement on rights and airily dismissed fears about influence-peddling: “I laugh when I read people gain access by their contributions. So what! So what!” Perhaps we should chisel that into the Capitol facade: Honor, integrity and So What! So What!

Good God, this man is one of the three most powerful men in Albany.

Yes, I realize nailing Bruno is like shooting fish in a barrel, but this Bruno quote is unusually good.

I loved that too. Tobin is awesome lately. So what! So what! Bruno sounds like a spoiled little kid.

BTW, RT should devote some time/space to one of Rochester’s biggest problems, which is violence in the city. Dr. Topa’s Golden Pen letter today just pi**ed me off.

Violence in the city is one of those big issues that we know is there, but it’s hard to know what to say can be done about it. If we ever have any idea — any at all — about how to stop it, we’ll certainly post.

In the meantime, the one thought I have is this: most of the city is very safe. People shouldn’t be afraid to visit the East End or most of of Downtown.

Or most of Southwedge or Cornhill, for that matter!
