CMCE calls: “Tip of the iceberg”

A couple days ago we asked RT readers to join in on calling Shelly Silver’s office to show support for FULL public financing of NY elections, not the crappy partial funding thang the Assembly traditionally passes. I called a few days ago, and my wife called today. She asked the kindly staffer she spoke with if they had received a lot of calls in support of it. The staffer, in kind of a weary voice, said that the calls he himself had answered were “the tip of the iceberg” in the mountain of calls they’d received.

So all of you who called, well done! As far as I can tell, it worked– they didn’t pass the crappy partial financing bill this session, plus they are clear on how important it is to a lot of folks, so are (theoretically) more likely to hold their ground on it.
