Strange Kuhl mistake
From the Fighting 29th:
Here’s a new one: Randy Kuhl has issued a press release saying he voted for H R 2638, the Homeland Security Appropriations Bill. Though there were three dozen different procedural votes on the bill, Kuhl voted “No” on the final vote on passage. Something ain’t right here.
I believe that Kuhl’s press office is still run by Bob Van Wicklin. I’ve never been impressed with the work out of Kuhl’s office, but this seems to be the biggest gaffe they’ve made so far.
It’s made doubly strange by the fact that Kuhl goes on and on about how great the bill (that he seems to have voted against) is:
“Protecting the homeland is our number one responsibility,” said Rep. Kuhl. “This bill accomplishes that mission. There are a lot of great programs and projects funded in this bill to ensure that we’re protected from threats to our ports, transportation facilities, buildings, and energy supply infrastructure. We also greatly increased the amount available for fire grants which have been so helpful to the volunteer fire companies in my district and around the nation. Our local first responders are the backbone of our homeland security infrastructure, so it’s critical that they are adequately funded to meet the needs they face everyday.”

Perhaps its not a mistake? Perhaps they thought no one would notice that Kuhl voted against it. (They couldn’t be that stupid, could they? I am very cynical today).
Notice that this bill contains $50million to improve “Real IDâ€ÂÂ, which is a very scary concept. I’m glad a lot of money has been provided for Homeland Security despite Kuhl’s vote against it, but this “Real ID†is a concept that has to be shot down.
