    Streams of thought:

I keep my mother up to date on basic political issues. She’s very upset that the Dems have no challenger to Brooks.

TAPPED has a good post up on the dynamics behind the Bush Putin war of words

They also have a good series called “Think Tank Round Up”
    How cool is that?

Barack Obama is supporting Liquid Coal. What the hell is he thinking? That shit is horribly bad. I know he’s from Illinois, but still! His whole point is that he’s all about giving tough love to interest groups.

Dingell and Boucher are trying to destroy the environment. What the hell.

I hate how “Debates” aren’t real debates. Not only do the candidates not get to debate each other, but ever since the League of Women voters stopped hosting it (they were pushed out by an industry consortium of broadcast channels, CNN?) they have been getting crappier and crappier.

In fact, let me just quote Matt Stoller:

Progressives are in a bit of a bind these days. The Republicans are still sadistic extremists, and with the challenge to Hagel in Nebraska, they will remain that way for at least another few cycles. Despite the victory in 2006, liberal Democrats are still cut out of power and policy-making. House Democrats want to fund abstinence only education, Virginia Democrat Rick Boucher and Michigan Democrat John Dingell are trying to block California’s actions on global warming, the CBC is sucking up to Fox News, Hillary Clinton is saying that she understands the war on terror because she is from New York and that we are safer since 9/11, and lobbyist and blog-hater Steve Elmendorf’s business is exploding.

You should probably make your questions a tad more specific :)

Music is on my mind (not the Hillary campaign theme variety, but real music). I am currently into Sick Puppies’ “All The Same” and Joseph Arthur’s “In The Sun.” Maybe we should vote for candidates based on how cool their music choices are. Hey, it would have eliminated Bush II…

I think we should elect candidates who have cool musicians who want to play FOR THEM. That would have REALLY eliminated BUSH, the lesser.

The problem with that is self-promotion. A cool but struggling musician would play for BUSH, the lesser (loved that moniker) to pay the bills. I just checked out Joseph Arthur’s myspace site and he is one dedicated humanitarian. If HE played for anyone I would have to seriously consider voting for that candidate.
