Actually, Stephen, you’re the party of George W. Bush

The D&C has a big piece up about town and village races. It’s pretty interesting — much of the focus seems to be on issues like smart growth versus sprawl. One particularly intresting race is in Mendon, where Democrats have made inroads in recent year. In this case, both candidates are claiming they want to control development:
Ian McNabb, who has a background in business and is not enrolled in any party, was designated by the town Democratic committee as its candidate for supervisor. He stresses more long-range planning to preserve open space. His Republican opponent, lawyer Jeffrey Babcock, is — like McNabb — a newcomer to electoral politics and said he also wants to maintain Mendon’s agriculture character.
Of course, Stephen Minarik drops by to say something stupid and inaccurate:
Minarik is concerned that the hard times that have fallen on his party at the national and state levels — fueled by opposition to the Iraq war — might filter down.
“We are the party of Maggie Brooks,” Minarik said, trying to define the party locally around the county executive.
I think we all know who the “leader” of Minarik’s party really is. And that this “leader” has an approval rating well under 30 percent in New York State.
By the way, the man pictured above giving the finger — he works for Maggie Brooks. You can read more about him here.
