Massa letter on immigration
The Corning Leader’s opinion section is not available online, but the eyes of the blogosphere are everywhere and Fighting29th has a pdf of a letter Massa wrote to the paper about immigration. Massa supports a guest worker program, but opposes giving immigrants a path to citizenship other than through “our embassies and consulate offices.”
Kuhl, you may recall, originally opposed any form of amnesty for illegal aliens but now favors Bush’s proposal, which essentially does grant amnesty.
Immigration is a tough issue for Kuhl: on the one hand, only a fool would deny the region’s agricultural businesses the workers they need, while on the other, the far right-wing of the Republican party are such fools. Bob Lonsberry has threatened to support a primary challenge to Kuhl if Kuhl supports the Bush immigration proposal.
