We are being censored!
Yep that right boys and girls we’ve made the Chinese Government’s list of blocked sites. Inspired by an Albany Project post (thanks guys as always) I decided to check out our site and to my surprise…
You can check any link at the Great Firewall of China site.
Given COMDIA’s comments (well Bob Hurlbut’s comments about competing with China) I would have thought that the COMIDA site isn’t blocked. Well it is blocked also. As is Rottenchester’s site, DFE, and paige’s site. (each check took a few minutes to check I’m checked out).
lipris at TAP checked several campaign sites and discovered Rudy’s campaign site isn’t blocked As he says -
To recap: The Chinese government thinks that this site [TAP] as well as the sites of the Governor and our junior Senator are bad, bad, bad, but Rudy is A-OK.
How about when a government starts blocking particular sites. Can you say slippery slope. Well, At least we are the ones over here with the Constitution. Good thing those protections are in place huh. Can’t imagining anything ever happening to them.

Crazy, isn’t it? It’s almost an honor just to be nominated for censorship!
I presume that the Chinese proxies are running bots that checking for keywords roughly the way Google does (for all we know, Google helped them with the algorithm in exchange for market share. . . . no, that would be nuts) and therefore we get blocked because we talk about freedom and such.
At least, that’s probably why you’re getting blocked. I think somewhere along the line I might have said something nasty about Chairman Mao wearing combat boots, or somesuch. . . .
Probably. Yep it is an honor that we are a threat to China. Such power concentrated in a blog.
Gosh, I’d hate to see the government blocking specific sites here in the USA! (cough library cough)
