More on appraisals and City Water

I’ve posted here and here that I don’t understand the logic of getting an appraisal. In my mind it simply doesn’t make sense as the general consensus is the land is going to the state. One can hope that it stays forever wild.

But there is the little bit about the appraisal and 28K. I’ve argued why?

Here is why.

I’m told the state apparently is also getting the land appraised. I didn’t know that. So now it makes sense as an insurance policy. Sort of like getting multiple estimates on car repairs (I was going to use multiple bids for contractors but that didnt’ seem right ;-) )

So there you have it. The appraisal is like an insurance policy to ensure there is a fair price based on the State appraisal.

Then there can be a decision to sell.

Did I miss it in the newspaper?

Just curious-have you ever spent any time down there ? Walked the path on the West side of Canadice and seen the old growth trees? Canoed, or kyaked? It’s really awesome down there.

Personally I haven’t but have heard great things. Which is why it should stay forever wild.

Just to be clear. I want it forever wild (period)
The City appraisal sounds like it is a counter balance to the State Appraisal
I think it is going to the State eventually
I can only hope that the State keeps it forever wild
In my opinion, development of this land would have the same negative impact on Duffy as the Fast Ferry had on Johnson.
Short sighted gain - long term loss.

I don’t think we have to worry(optimism setting in). It’ll go to the State and remain protected.

I hope you’re right about it remaining forever wild. I keep thinking of that movie “Blade Runner” where all the animals are animatronic and everything is urban and paved, and in the end, even the humans aren’t what they seem.

Think more “Peter Pan” or “Finding Never Land”. I’m sure there are faeries, pirates and Aboriginies about. A great place to fly away to and watch the sun come up.

What I meant is that if they don’t keep it forever wild then slowly we will lose all things natural and only have facsimiles.
