3 Men in a Room: You are living the movie, now read the book!

Ok, nobody likes Albany politics. It’s not glamorous like National Politics. We don’t know the players very well like with local politics. It’s corrupt and dysfunctional and we don’t understand the path of a bill through the houses of the Legislature. But truth be told, it is probably the place where we need to make the most difference.

Last week, while attending a conference in Albany, (and if I knew I’d be posting, I would have taken better notes) , I was introduced to the book, “Three Men in a Room“.

The basic premise here is that the only way to get anything passed is through the two Majority Leaders and the Governor. There are so many stop gaps which interfere with a bill getting passed if it is not attractive to the Majority Leaders that very little gets done. So, what is to be done? How to pass campaign finance reform? How to pass term limits? Calling our Assemblyman or State Senator is not going to have much of an impact..

It’s not gonna happen till we change leadership-One down, two to go.
