HSBC builds first Green bank branch building in nation
Now this is what I’m talking about:
A local bank branch is going green, and it’s not just the money. The HSBC on Dewey Avenue in Greece is going green with energy. The bank utilized the latest green building technologies to construct a retail branch that operates as carbon neutral, without any consumption of energy that requires the burning of fossil fuels. It also uses geothermal heating and cooling.
How freakin’ cool is that? I’m jealous– I’ve been eyeing geothermal ever since the Medical Arts building on Alexander got it a few years back.
The RNews report also showed solar panels on the roof. Â I love it, but again, I’m also jealous.
The green bank branch is the first of its kind in the nation.
I’m kinda proud that the first one is here in Rochester. Here’s hoping it’s just the start of many that will jump-start a renewables economy around here.
