WBP: More county pay-to-play, A/V-style

Remember how we reported that the county gave a company called ECC a contract to handle marketing the sale of electricity generated at the county run Mill Seat landfill in Riga, even though they didn’t have any such expertise? (Except in the area of contributions to the local GOP.)

Water Buffalo Press, doing an excellent job of “following the money”, uncovers yet another fun county contract (for county A/V services) that smells of “pay to play”:

In April of 2006, roughly the same time the bid process on the aforementioned a/v service was started, Toshiba Business Solutions made a donation of $6,000 to the Monroe County Republican Committee. In July of ‘06, at the time the contract was awarded, TBS made another donation to the Monroe County Republicans in the amount of $1,500. Then in October, just for good measure, TBS made another yet another $1,500 donation to Minarik and friends.

It’s like one of my daughter’s puzzle books, where you connect the dots and the picture emerges. Except this pic isn’t a pretty pony.

handsomeswede– after seeing the rates TBS is charging, I agree, we’re in the wrong biz. No wonder Maggie needs to raise the county tax rate, intercept revenue at the expense of the towns, etc. Payback for political contributions is expensive!
