DFE: More COMIDA giveaways, medical imaging-style

Holy crap, I gotta get out more. There’s a lotta good stuff going on in the local blogosphere, and I couldn’t be happier. DragonFly is all over the most recent COMIDA giveaway to another company that sure doesn’t look like it needs it:
does a company that can spend 2.5 billion dollars on buying Kodak’s medical imaging division and another 12 million dollars to spruce the place up really have any particular use for $725,000 in tax breaks? How useful is that tax credit to them compared to the use that the citizens of this state might have gotten out of that same money?
It’s like our own stlo7 keeps reminding us in his own reporting on COMIDA, as Mayor Bloomberg says:
Any company that makes a decision as to where they are going to be, based on the tax rate, is a company that won’t be around very long. If you are down to that incremental margin, you don’t have a business.
All these tax giveaways add up, and where they don’t impact the county budget, they sure do screw the towns where these businesses reside. The towns should get credit for taking the hit, not the Brooks administration.
And Maggie Jack, you’ll have to let us know how those magic beans work out for you.
